So, I have this wall in the bedroom with paint flaking off it due to water damage. I had a guy come in and prod it with his damp meter, and supposedly it's totally dry (hypothesis: it's the fallout from a leaky roof that was replaced a couple of years before I moved in). Just needs 'making good'...

This evening I attacked the flaking paint with a suitable tool, and with the damage no longer hidden by paint it looks rather as if a 30cm high by 1m wide section of plaster in the slopy ceiling has separated from the lathes behind it. And a smallish chunk just fell out when it was no longer supported by the paint, revealing that the lathes themselves don't seem to be in particularly good condition either.

I suspect this has passed the limit of my DIY skills and I need a plasterer. Oh well, at least Saturday was fun :-)
