I just gave my apparently dead old laptop a quick flick of the power switch before finally dumping it in a 'to be disposed of' pile... and it started up! No idea what that was about. Oh well, I like the new laptop better anyway (the old one wouldn't be able to drive my shiny new monitor at the right resolution).
