Came nose-to-nose with this (sitting on a bar of my bedroom window) this evening. Irresistably reminded of that SF movie cliche where you see some stupendously high-tech spaceship or artefact, and then a closer look reveals that it's actually the decaying remains left by some now vanished culture... (Also at this size I keep thinking of Nausicaa.)

as I've been watching Doctor Who recently, phrases like "The stuff of nightmares" or "The stuff of legends" spring to mind.
